Wado Ryu Karate

Wado Ryu means Way of Peace style, and is a style of Karate derived from Aikijujitsu. We use locks, sweeps and throws, which most other styles have discontinued from their syllabus. Evading the attack and redirecting the attacker’s force is how Wado works. It is a fast, effective fighting style, with light fast techniques delivered in a natural style. Refined would sum up the Wado Ryu system as compared to others. The syllabus includes knife and sword work, as befits an art derived from the Samurai arts.

We are constantly looking to improve our techniques, and to find their roots in our Jujitsu practice. Our Jujitsu class sometimes consists of only Wado techniques! We regularly visit top Japanese Sensei, and have them visit Blackpool to ensure the highest standards in our Karate. An in-house course every 3months also keeps us sharp. We often place highly in Open competition in Kata as well as Kumite.
